Charmaine Samaraweera Torma has dedicated her professional and personal life to promoting inclusion, equity, and access for all individuals. She is a highly creative and dedicated not-for-profit (NFP) specialist with 20 years of experience working with organizations of all types, sizes, and operating budgets. In her work, she helps NFPs Get. It. Together. (#NFPgit).
In 2015, Charmaine founded a boutique consulting firm, and has continued to guide community based organizations and educational institutions in developing organizational strategic plans and philanthropic strategies. Prior to consulting, Charmaine served as the Vice President of College Relations at Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, Indiana while also serving as an adjunct development consultant for Catholic School Management, a firm providing comprehensive services in all areas of Catholic school life and operation.
Even though Charmaine enjoys teaching clients how to fish, she missed being a philanthropic officer. In March 2020, she accepted a development position at SMASH, a national NFP providing an intensive and holistic STEM education to underserved high school and college students.
Charmaine likes to relax by going to the theatre or to comedy shows, especially improvisation. Even though she’s not theatrically gifted, Charmaine has developed workshops and training programs that incorporate her expertise as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) with black box theatre and improv techniques. These trainings help to relax trainees while learning how to Get. It. Together. (#NFPgit).
In her 20 year NFP career, Charmaine has worked with:
- Advocacy organizations
- K-12 schools
- Higher Educational institutions
- Mentoring and Scholarship organizations
- Professional Membership associations
- Religious organizations
- Social Service organizations
Charmaine is a leading expert in the not-for-profit field. She has been a guest contributor for TravelPledge and spoken at a number of conferences. Charmaine is available to speak and to train your team.
